Sometimes referred to as the "black beetle" or a "water bug" because of its dark black appearance and tendency to harbor in damp locations, Oriental Roaches, unlike other large roaches, cannot fly despite wings (wing pads) covering 3/4 of their one inch long body.
Females produce egg capsules that contain 16 young which they carry from 1 to 5 days then deposit into a warm moist area where food is readily available. It takes almost an entire year for Oriental Roaches to become adults. Adults then breed year round.
These roaches will often seek refuge indoors when a drop in temperature occurs, but is still quite tolerable of cooler weather. The roach travels through the structure on plumbing pipes. Outside the house they sometimes aggregate near or under garbage cans. Oriental cockroaches will eat almost anything, including organic matter and trash. They often live in sink drains, garbage disposals, under cabinets that contain plumbing or in bathrooms. As they forage for food in homes, the pests may transfer disease-causing bacteria to pantry goods and countertops. They can be a source for many food-borne pathogens, including E. Coli, Salmonella, and other pathogens.
Pronto's Treatment Plan includes exterior, interior, attic, basement and crawl space treatments as well as exclusion of entry points. Treatment can include both baiting and repellent applications in and around the infested structures.
